The six finalists for the German Book Prize 2006 have been nominated. “After a pugnacious and spirited meeting, in the end the judges have been able to reach surprisingly joint – but by no means unanimous – agreement on the six titles for the shortlist”, says spokesman for the judges, Volker Hage. “The list now includes both eminent and well-known names as well as the largely unknown, and in terms of the formally speaking very different novels, contains considerable inner tension. It will be fascinating to see the upcoming choice of a winner. We feel that ourselves."
