At ninety-five years of age, Carl Jacob Candoris, mathematician, dandy, citizen of the world and jazz fan, wants to record his life. The writer entrusted to do so is Sebastian Lukasser, himself already over fifty and the son of a long-standing protégé of Candoris’. He mingles the stories of his own and Candoris’ family, creating the panorama of an entire century. The epic and deeply touching novel tells of personal and political hopes, of art and life, of the spirit and demons of an epoch.

Thomas von Steinaecker, geboren 1977, lebt in München. 1996 erhielt er den Hattinger Förderpreis, 2003/04 das Autorenwerkstatt-Stipendium des Literarischen Colloquiums Berlin. Er nahm am 11. Open Mike in Berlin und am „textwerk“-Seminar des Literaturhauses München teil. 2006 wurde er zum 10. Klagenfurter Literaturkurs eingeladen. „Wallner beginnt zu fliegen“ ist Thomas von Steinaeckers erster Roman.
