Biography Herbert Hans Grüntker

Born in 1955 in Frankfurt, Herbert Hans Grüntker graduated from Cologne business college in 1982. He then worked at the BHF-Bank, the Barmenia insurance company, and the state bank of the states of Hesse and Thuringia. Since November 2005, he is member of the board of the Frankfurter Sparkasse. He presides the board since September 2007. As vice chairman of the charitable 1822-Foundation of the Frankfurter Sparkasse, Grüntker also is involved in the promotion of culture, science and education in Frankfurt.

The members of the Academy

In September 2004, the board of the Börsenverein made its unique appointment of the German Book Prize Academy which is made up of eleven members.

With representatives from the book industry and the arts and co-sponsors of the Prize, the advisory committee’s most important task is the annual selection of the jury. Publisher Dr. Gottfried Honnefelder is president of the German Book Prize Academy.
