Surprise readings with the nominees

See the nominees read from their work: In the coming weeks, literature lovers across Germany will have a chance to see the authors nominated for the German Book Prize live.

Blind Date Readings

Authors longlisted for the German Book Prize 2018 will present their novels at ten Blind Date readings. What’s special about the events is that, like on a blind date, the audience will only find out at the event itself who will be reading that night. The longlist of the nominated authors and their novels is available at www.deutscher-buchpreis.de.

342 member bookstores of the Börsenvereins des Deutschen Buchhandels (German Publishers and Booksellers Association) – 26 more than last year – applied in advance to host a reading. Of these, nine bookstores were selected by lottery to welcome the authors. In addition, the Deutsche Bank Stiftung (Deutsche Bank Foundation), supporter of the German Book Prize, is also organising a reading in Frankfurt am Main.
